Well, if they think its "his job" at least they should be expecting to pay him. Anything other than 9-5 time frame incurs a bump in pay for "night" hours, its also going to include "hazard" pay, if its a weekend or holiday can you say "cha-ching"?
Oh, almost forgot most places have a "trip charge" just to get their equipment out of the shop?
If you don't want to be doing free work for all of the "neighbors" make it known what you get for cleaning driveways and pulling people out.
Maybe be proactive and send out fliers with your rates on them prior to winter.
