Colby, Kansas | As another poster mentioned no-till and more intense rotations has cut down on the practice of strip-cropping. But used to be widely used across the plains to reduce wind erosion, especially during the fallow phase of the rotation. Still a fair bit in the Nebraska Panhandle and some areas of Eastern Colorado, little bit in Western Kansas. Key thing is for the strips to run perpendicular to prevailing winds as much as possible. Thus here on the Central Plains they typically run E-W.
