Bow Island, Alberta | In Canada, the narrow strips are much less common than they used to be. With the widespread adoption of direct seeding equipment, relatively cheap burnoff herbicides, improved sprayers and lots of pulse crops for rotation, there's hardly any fallow anymore. Or hardly any tillage, for that matter.
This image shows most of the fields to be full quarters, and lots that are 2 or 4 quarters
