We could have the cows-under-solar-panels today if folks with large feeding buildings would put solar panels on the roof. I don't recall seeing any Iowa hog or cattle sheds with solar panels on the roof.
Could be because of the gases released below causing corrosion to some expensive gear on the roof.
Large solar farms would be a real pain to clean out the manure under the panels. Obviously grass is not going to grow there. Sheep are used by local utilities to clean up around their solar panel farms.
Every south-facing HAY shed roof should be covered with panels. These 12 panels generate enough power annually to offset my Bohlmann waterer winter heater bill and the hay shed meter charge.
This is happening today with solar panels and could be done more.
