Subject: RE: Corn still in field

Cambridge, southwestern Nebraska
I still have corn in the field. All LG. Ear retention has never been a problem in the 8 years I have planted it. I think stand ability goes back to plant date to some extent. What I have left was planted late so when it froze the plant was still very healthy. Earlier planted corn would have been dried up and deteriorating by now. But that corn would also be drier for harvest. We're still picking corn around 17%. Most has to go to an end user and 17% is the max moisture allowed.
