Another thing that helps consistency in self feeders is if you level the feed as it comes out of the auger. I always HAD to do this when I had cracked corn and crappy pellets. The accumulation of fines at the point at which an auger unloads is pretty intense. Still a good thing to do if you can't move back and forth a bit as you unload.
