The pic he sent me showed the syncro disk lining just kind of flaking off, didn't look burned. Maybe just cheap aftermarket lining...The shaft looked like the low pinion had seized before they fixed it 8 years ago or whenever, they polished it down & didn't look like it had seized again...
Overall, I tend to think the Abilene rebuilt top shaft is the way for him to go...
