Subject: JD 9510R transmission. Found possible gear piece on bottom when changing oil.

NE SD
Recently bought a 2012 9510R with 1600 hours. We changed oil in transmission and differentials and we took check plug out of bottom of transmission and noticed a small piece of what we think is a tooth off of a gear. We are not sure what it is but it appears that's what it could be anyway. We took piece to dealer and they not 100% sure either but they said there is known problems with these transmissions and there is some type of recall/help that deere will help with cost of replacing entire transmission. The tractor shifts and works perfectly and they are telling me the cost to fix this could be well over 50K with a rebuilt transmission.
Does anyone on ag talk know more about this or have any experience with this? Why cant they just replace that one broken gear if that's what it ends up being? Or how risky is it to just run it and do nothing?
Thanks for any advice
