Subject: RE: Twin Row Planter

BeanBagger212 - 1/11/2019 12:19 Hello all. Looking at some options for upgrading our planter this winter. We currently strip till corn, edible beans, and soys on 6 row 30in centres, but am interested in moving to twin rows either no till or possibly try to squeeze them onto our strips. I like the idea of earlier canopy for the twin 30's and that I wouldnt need to change my corn head like I would if I went narrow row planter. I have noticed there are more of the great plains twin rows available then the monosems, specifically 12 row units (looking at the GP YP1225A-24tr). Was wondering if the great plains are a good unit or if there is a reason there are so many for sale. Any other options worth looking at? Any input is greatly appreciated. Greg

Most twin-row configurations create issues with residue flow between the units in NT.  Especially if you want to run some sort of spoked closing wheel, or open-rim gauge wheels, or row cleaners.
