NS Canada | The piers are over 800ft apart, and the design of them are such that they break the ice as it piles up against them similar to an ice breaker. However that body of water will freeze over completely at times, so you'd only have the up and down movement of the tides, no flow by for a while until the ice pack breaks up in the spring again.
