N.W. Ohio | Running shanks with Hiniker’s wider point, probably 2”? This is Hoytville clay and definitely wouldn’t want to be running this rig in the spring. Most striptill around here is with shank type as I believe that’s quite benifitial to loosen that row up a bit more than a coulter unit would do. Running around 6” deep, fertilizer probably around 4”? We generally fertilizer the corn for both corn and soybean crop. Plant 15” beans notill, so beans are never more than 7 1/2” from the fertilizer. We haven’t felt that has hurt our bean yields. Haven’t went to variable rate yet, but if/when do, I envision variable rate phosphorus with the stripper for both crops. And then variable rate the potash in the corn stalks for both crops as well. Does that sound logical? | |
