SC MN
Is this 120V? A 2hp motor on 120V is marginal at best. I had a hard time keeping a 1.5hp motor from kicking out a 20A breaker using a #12 extension cord. How long and how big is the auger? Does it run full and have to start when its full of corn.

Also using the extension cord as the switch will quickly lead to the ends getting burnt and leading to a poor connection which will smoke. As someone said at minimum use the breaker as a switch or wire in a magnetic starter switch which will take care of this problem. Here is a source for some reasonably priced switches.
