| Preface - I am not a livestock or fencing guy. Had cattle, pigs and llamas as a kid, but just a few for 4H. Know nothing about fencing.
I have a quarter mile of 5 string barb wire that's seen better days. Essentially it will all need taken down and replaced with new posts too. I'd like to get some more llamas to keep the place clean. They aren't very hard on fences and don't push on them like cattle. But I'd like to have a tough enough fence that I could let the neighbor run some cattle in there from time to time. Seems to me wood posts and high tensile wire would be just fine for the llamas and be easier (?) to install. I see that some of you use high tensile wire for cattle too. My question is, since I only want to do this once in my lifetime, what type do I install? For a quarter mile, what kind of prices am I looking at? Need to do more searching here but if anyone has any good how-to threads I'd like to read them. | |
