I'd still stick with NH3, get your own bar. If you want split apply it, put some on in the fall, spring or side dress with the same rig. Look at your CEC, you won't loose anything below that number, the ground will hold it. Most all my fields run 20.5 to 27.3. With just a few in the 17.5 range. Take your # times ten and that's what you can hold. If you spring apply just wait till the ground is good. I still run 7" deep in the spring. After a couple days FC and plant.
If you are going to put liquid down in the spring just as well put your pre with it. I believe my local guy was quoting 28% at .44/unit. Fall NH3 was .24
