Tuscola, IL | Exactly. If you start and finish in the middle of a vehicles existence, electric wins by a long shot. But, if your concern is cost of ownership or environmental impact, you have to look at the entire process. What is the cost/carbon footprint to manufacture the vehicle. What is the repair cost when the battery dies? What does it take to safely and properly dispose of the old battery? What is the cost/carbon footprint to produce the new battery? What is the cost/carbon footprint to produce the electricity to recharge? All of these things are factors and why it’s a bald faced lie to claim an electric vehicle produces no emissions. It’s only true when said vehicle is moving down the road. I’m not saying I know how it compares to fossil fuel powered vehicles, but I’ve heard enough from her to know she doesn’t either. | |
