Perhaps they will grade out well once they get there.

However the beef breed cow/calf operation has lost a calf sale to a dairy by-product and the price bar for calves that are sold has been lowered. 

As discussed here several time previously, from ISU and U of Mn meetings I've attended years ago, a beef breed cow/calf operation needs about $700-750 for a 550 lb calf to break even.
