Leesport, PA | Maximum storage would be my first concern. I agree with the thought of getting shoes off the ground but you need to make sure that whatever material you are using can sustain some water off of the shoes unless you are always letting them dry first. We lack a mudroom/entry area in our current house so simply have a rug and a couple of 3M Command Strip hooks that look nicer on the side of the cupboard for the fridge. Works okay with 3 of us although I tend to not hang a coat up - my typically stay in each vehicle I drive. Last house had a bench about 3 feet wide with 3 hooks above it. We could fit 4ish pairs of shoes under the bench and hang up 4 to 5 coats easily which worked well but we lacked small storage space for hats, gloves, etc. Don't forget to plan for a place for keys, purses, back packs - I know our diaper bag often ends up in the designated coat area as does the wife's purse. | |
