Croswell, Michigan | I had a 1780 18x20" that I ran for one year then went back to 15" rows. I was still trying to no-till beans back then and didn't like how the 20" bean rows lined up with the old 30" corn rows. Keep in mind that I am far enough north that I feel we get very little stalk decomposition from harvest to spring because of cold temps. Your situation could be a lot different than mine. Had I known that I was going to go back to conventional tillage on beans I probably would have kept that planter. I have a 1790 now and will say the central fill beats the heck out of individual boxes on a 30' planter. One of the plus' of a 20" planter is the extra 5" between row units is really nice compared to a 15" Deere planter when you have to work on something. Another is more row cleaner options, As far as yield, I don't think there is 2 cents difference 15" vs 20" on beans.
