Mid MO | It's what makes up most pastures. Forms a heavy sod that can take a lot of abuse. Our winters are generally more mud than frozen ground. Then followed by more mud in the spring. Stockpiles well and keeps quality fairly well. Grows 11 months out of 12.
Will grow on poor ground and form a sod that prevents washing, which is why most of it was planted in the first place. It out competes other grasses. It is cheap.
That being said, it is easier to learn to work with it as opposed to fighting it. Delute it with clover and you've improved the situation substantially. | |
