South Central MN | I have done that before, but did end up with blood, and it wasn't the cat's blood. Not fun. Since then, my brother lost the sight in one of his eyes from cat scratch disease. Until then, I thought cat scratch fever was just a Ted Nugent song, but it's real, and he didn't actually get scratched. Kittens (I believe 6 months old and younger) can carry this on their fur. He had a habit of picking them up while working outside. The blindness in that eye happened very quickly. He was also sick (I think flu-like symptoms, but not positive) for several months. After that, I stopped paying much attention to the outside cats. | |
