west central Iowa | We did that very trip quite a few times with the kids. We would hop the train in Omaha and get off at Fraser. There is a Winter Park/Fraser bus stop about half a block from the train station. We usually had quite a group, so we arranged for a large van to pick us up and take us to the condo. Free bus service in WP is great! Takes you to the mountain and around town.
You can ride the train in coach, which is fun with a big group. Or you can book a roomette that sleeps 2. Having a small room was nice as you had a place saved on train. If getting on in the night, you have to wake people to use an empty seat, if riding coach. Train food is not bad either. A good half hour lay over in Denver, as they refuel and restock.
