Evansville, WI | It really depends. Usually the best time to buy your UAN is the summer before. The last 2 years we have bought 32% UAN semi loads at $.32 per pound of N for 2019 and $.27 per pound of N for 2018. Both were paid for the summer before (ie paid for 2018 uan in summer of 2017) and we picked up ourselves the following spring.
That might be worth looking at if possible. NH3 is cheaper per pound of N but takes more $ in equipment/storage upfront and depending on application method costs more to apply as well.
