I suggest you ask around at the feed store etc and find someone locally that deals in cattle. A local "jockey". One with a good reputation who's been in the business for awhile. He will know where to find what you are looking for.  Rarely is the cheapest cow (or whatever) the best value in the long run.  I suggest to folks to start with the 3 in ones - a confirmed bred cow with a heifer calf at her side - as mentioned above, except that's not called a "heifer" to me. Don't start with heifers!
