NC Iowa | i was tasked with being executor of my mother's estate. i spent 100's of hours on it, keeping meticulous records so not even a hint of impropriety could be suspected. i liquidated and distributed proceeds from investments, bank accounts, real estate, life insurance, home furnishing sale, and a private sale of the dwelling. i accepted no commission on the house sale, or percentage of the estate for payment as executor. i considered the final act i could do for my parents to honor them. i am not sure everyone was entirely happy with the distributions, but i tried to follow the terms of the will, i made some distributions of household items based on need or sentiment, but listed items and estimated value so was known to all.
good luck to you. it is hard and thankless job. i am praying that you honor your mother by doing your very best in this final act, closing out her life here on earth.. | |
