So in all honesty buying off the farm like that you can tell but what about when running through the sales barn?? We vaccinate, worm, tmr ration, and background the calves- the whole works. My question is how do the buyers know we actually put the work in work the calves vs the guys that just bring them in that “say” the work was done but really wasn’t? We do list everything out on the paper and the auctioneer reads it off. The barn owner knows we do as well and will usually say something but I’m still curious If you have consistent cattle year after year and sell at the same barn your cattle will have a reputation and if it's good they will sell themselves. Buyers will get word which cattle perform and they will remember that Joe Doe has good cattle and they are healthy. |
