Subject: RE: Best antenna for free television?

If the old antenna is for VHF and UHF it will work for HD. Many VHF channels moved to UHF for digital TV, in central Iowa Channels 5, 8, 11, and 13 moved back to their VHF channels with digital TV HD. Most supposed HD antennas on the market are only for UHF and are useless here. I get signals from channels 17, 19, and 23. There stations on 39 and 45 but I don't detect them with my old antennas. But I get 17 channels off the air on my digital TV and 21 on my digital converters feeding my VHS recorder and antique color TV with indoor antennas. That is if the digital TV and my laptop is off. The two of them radiate channel 5 RF strong enough to block it n the digital converters and the digital TV. They all would probably work better with an outdoor antenna made for VHF and UHF.
