I had a steer almost a week develop swelling under his belly and between his legs. I asked on here and got some good info as well as some folks who only wanted to act like bored house wifes on Facebook and offer nothing but insults about waiting to call a vet. The steer had a viral infection from cutting, my vet said he sees a few happen every year, he told me to give it 30ml of Norfenicol. I would like to add I don't believe it is ethical to wait until a animal is almost dead before calling the vet and I have never been over charged. However if it is something I can do with what I have on hand and the intelligence I have (which I never even heard of a water belly so I know more now) then I'm going to do what I can before I bother a busy vet. I appreciate the help I get on here, some people forget it's more than just a picture gallery. I am sure I will be asking more questions in the future.

Did you drain the infection? Or just give it a shot? And the vet said it was a viral infection?
