SW Minnesota | I would agree to stay away from club calves. I did it for 3-4 years around 2010. Set the price in advance (6-8 mos.) and when it came time to sell my calves, it was better than my own, but not enough to make it worth it. I did 75% of my 65 cow herd and problem I ran into was your most productive cows will stick and you are left with the poorer ones for your calves. I wouldn't do it, but if you are tempted I would say $1000 over market would be a fair price. | |
