Subject: RE: Weaned calves on stalks

Beresford, SD
Just got back fron Western Nebraska, Sheridan county to be exact. All and I mean all weaned calves were running out, Stalks, grass, meadows. Bunks lined up in the field for feed They were all haired up and happy. I want a bawler penned up for at least 30 days after weaning, then there is no point to keeping them penned up again until the last 120-175 days when finished. Observations made from trip......I'm putting up a lot of fence this summer/fall, 100 head/10 acres of stalks looks about right. Pull'em off and pen them up just as frost is going out.
