We don't mix select with trimmings right now. Walmart and others offer it as a cheaper alternative and several yards feed specifically for select. Before the exotic push in the 70s, "good" was uncommon as most fed calves were choice or better. In the 90s we were down to 40% choice or better and have been coming up since. This was another issue that bqa has been working on. The phase out is just a prediction by the red angus folks.
