SW Minnesota | Sell the thins as butchers. Anyone that buys a burger cow for stock is getting what they ask for. Just make sure not to sell them as breds. JOHNES is more prevalent then most know or want to admit. There are stats out there on percentage beef herds with it. Usually contracted as a calf and shows symptoms around 3. Some can carry and never show it. I would just cull any thins. Probably try to go a few years without retaining heifers. Buy 5 year old cows as replacements for time being. Most likely if they made it until 5 your safe. | |
