All hills have a rental shop on site. There are a couple in Banff townsite and some in Calgary as well. Google search. If rent at hill, you dont have to transport equipment, rent in town you can have same equipment for the whole time. Been a few yrs since I went skiing but I always preferered Lake Louise when the snow was good. More varied terrain/choice of runs. Sunshine is also good, higher elevation, so on poor year snow is better, longer. Gondola to get to ski hill. Sunshine is usually open till late May. Used to finish seeding and then go skiing. Sometimes opens June 1 for Canada’s birthday. Norquay is an expert or beginner hill not to much in between. Kicking Horse a bit further west of Lake Louise is a popular spot also. Never been there. Mountains have been getting dumped on this year so snow will be good everywhere. Lots of travelers from all over world come to ski, so expect some lines, kids are all of school first week of Jan too. Hope you enjoy our Rocky Mountains.
