north central Iowa, Hampton | Had an enjoyable time making dessert for a family Christmas. I knew the recipe I wanted was from my 40 year old home-church cookbook. I love cooking from local books. There are times you may not be familiar with the particular recipe, but you just know you can trust it because Gloria or Irma or whoever was a fabulous cook.
It's also a great trip down memory lane, reading recipes from those who have passed. Kind of reminded me to make sure I contribute something next time there's a book getting made up. And it's a special treat using an old book with someone else's notes in the margins.
