Subject: Tracks on planter tractor.

Sw Mn
First time poster long time reader. We are looking to purchase a different planter tractor and are looking at tracked machines. Looking at early model RT's (2010) We are conv. tillage and some rolling ground but flat for the most part. will be pulling a 24r 30" planter w/500 gal liquid and a 1000 bu cart, and possibly spraying but only if we have a breakdown. looking at a 300hp tractor with 16" tracks @ 120" spacing. question I have is will the 16's tear up our headlands(120') pretty bad, and will it be enough track on the ground to pull the cart? Don't know if we should be looking for 18" or 24" or if its no big deal?? Is there a must have suspension upgrade in the later models that the early didn't have? I have always heard that road travel isn't fun with tracks and our furthest field is 16 miles away, would/should that be a deal breaker for tracks? Main concern for us would be berming up the headlands and traction on the cart. Lots of questions i know....Thanks!
