Subject: RE: Radiant Tube Heater - U shape tube vs strait tube

West Central Wisconsin
I bought a 60', new-in-box Reverberater brand off from Craigslist for the 52' shop. Think it was a 175K btu, two stage. Plan was to put a 90* on the end of 40' and run it out the south side wall, "L"-shaped. Dealer I called said I had to be "X" inches from eaves so bought a 180 elbow and ran it out the end wall along side of the burner. The end tube has a baffle which is just a wavy piece of metal inside. With an infared heat gun the temp at the last inch of the run is 175* and four inches away on the exhaust pipe it's 75*. My conclusion was I think I could have safely run the pipe out the side wall. I do have to agree with the one salesman's theory on even heating with the u-tube design. The heat does not seem to vary much along the length of the tubes.
