WCIL | On the surface, I see what you are saying. But I hear all the time on here about a farmer with a newer pickup or nice machinery not needing any rent relief when a market turns down or costs go up. Maybe the farmer owns 1000 acres of good ground clear, and rents an 80. The 80's rent is high and becomes a losing deal, but because the successful farmer has a new truck or few antique tractors, he should still pony up on the losing 80. Why should the farmer be allowed to have anything nice? I drive through town and see all the fancy suv's and diesel trucks and nice homes of people with lunch bucket jobs, and I say good for them if they earned it. Farmers should only be allowed to drive a 1977 rust bucket. As far as your tenant, could you farm the family's ground for what he is paying? | |
