South Georgia | I've got a Tecumseh engine on a small generator (it's a Coleman something or another) that runs out of gas. I don't know the history of the generator, it was in some of one of my Uncle's old junk. We drug it out before Hurricane Michael to use to keep freezers and refrigerators running. It will crank and run fine, and it may run two minutes or indefinitely, with no apparent rhyme or reason. It has a clear fuel filter (which has been changed), and you can watch it while it's running get low of fuel, then a bunch of fuel run back in and fill it half full or more, then the fuel stops running in and it gets low again, and eventually no fuel will run back in to fill it back up, and it runs out.
The fuel tank is above the engine, so it's not a fuel pump problem. I have replaced the valve in the tank. The valve has a strainer built on it, which is clean. There's no trash in the tank. I've replaced all the fuel hose, and I have it routed so that there's no humps or low spots or anything between the tank and the carburetor to trap air. When I take the bowl off the carburetor, I get GOOD fuel flow, and when I push the float up, it closes the flow, and doesn't seem to stick or act wonky in anyway.
Anybody got any ideas? I think there must be a vent in the bowl that's stopped up, but I've blown air through every hole I can find to blow through. I'd like to fix it before I put it back up, and I've spent enough time on it at this point that I really don't want to give up.
I'll attach a couple pics from my phone in a minute.
Thanks for any tips,
Adrian
