My opinion, build it on a wall or don't build. I had a local contractor trench an 8 in trench below frost line and form 10 in above grade ,build a rebar 'fence' in trech and poured my wall. Works great!

Granted, this would be my first choice. BUT I have to deal with the reality of ag's economic situation right now. I'm roughly estimating the cost of my options above to be around $4500 to 5000, not including my labor or the cost of providing a level building site (which is going to cost about the same whether I do a post-type or frost wall foundation). My guess as to the cost of a frost wall foundation is $15-20,000 (which does include labor, since I don't have the resources to do that myself). That extra $10-15,000 will go a long way toward the cost of materials for the building itself.
