Eastern Shore of MD | Did the filter blow apart? or part of the block? - reread your post - our just blew the filters apart and did not damage the hyd block.
We had several filters blow apart a couple yrs ago - the filter(s) came apart and pieces of them lodged in a reflief valve and boom the filter was the weakest link!
Also make sure you have the correct O ring - oval or square on the filter - I don't remember which one is correct though.
