Near-north Ontario, French River
Are all the slacks indentical? I've seen some with longer throw arms ( for lack of better term),, the longer ones sometimes have 2 or 3 holes to which the push rods can be connected to. If the rod is connected to the wrong hole ( incorrect set up ), it might be possible that its causing the slacks to tighten, even when they are within spec.... Another possibility , although HIGHLY unlikely, is the left side slacks are installed backwards. It would take a brain dead mechanic to do THAT, but a shade tree wrench turner may do it.
