If just looking for 2D, DraftSight is a free CAD software made by the same company as SolidWorks. It will do most of what an expensive AutoCad license will do.

Ditto. Been using it since 2012. Gotta love the price!
If you want ALL the bells & whistles turned on I think it costs $99/year, but I've never needed to whistle or ring any bells yet.
