Central, IA		You need to decide if you want 2d or 3D.

Autocad was/still is the industry standard for 2d. They lost some edge when 3D came out.

I use Alibre. It is 3D, and is fairly similar to solid works, but it was 1000’s less upfront.

If you just want 2D. Siemens offers a free 2d cad program. I mostly just use it to open dwg files.
