Floyd County, Iowa
If you have the right filler cap, you shouldn't lose much, if any, to evaporation.
I keep gasoline here, and it sits out in the full sun. I have a meter on the pump, and I don't think I've lost any to evap (less than a couple gallons, max).

As far as quality, I've not had any problems keeping it. BUT, I only fill the barrel with 91 octane premium no-lead.
I fill mine every fall when everything is done. It's a 300 gal Kay tank, and usually go through 250 gals/year.
Use it in a couple old Deere 2 bangers, mowers, various small engines, side x side, boat.
I do put the first 10 gallons in the spring in one of the old tractors, since they have sediment bowls, so I can see if I picked up any condensation over winter. Hasn't been a problem
