The Manila American Cemetery and Memorial is beautiful and a wonderful tribute to the American efforts and lives lost. Be prepared at the Manila airport. When we were there (2011) everybody and his brother was there to meet people as the planes landed. People hanging over fences, etc. And at that time security at the airports was pretty lame. Our son and his wife lived in Manila for a couple years so most of our time there was spent meeting coworkers, seeing where they worked, meeting friends & family, etc. But we did take a flight from Manila to Caticlan (about an hour long flight and there are multiple flights a day) and then a small boat (pretty primitive) to the island of Boracay. Small island, beautiful beaches, good food, great massages. We rented motorcycles and could see the entire island in a couple hours.
