Subject: 60 series Detroit is a dog

KS
I have a 1995 Ford L9000 with a 12.7 60 series Detroit that is a dog. Loaded it will get to 1500 rpm in 9th gear. It's not that I want to run in NASCAR, but I would like to be able to get out of the way a little better. I have a boost gauge to put on the intake manifold to see if the turbo is doing its job correctly. I see on ebay that there are rebuilt injectors for $160-$180 each. My plan is to evaluate the turbo and if it is adequate, 15-20 psi, then go to the injectors. It's a little bigger project than usual but I have all winter to work on it now.
Just wondering if I am going in the right direction. Mainly on the rebuilt injector direction.
TIA
