Subject: RE: Self employed 401k

Central North Carolina

Options are just a regular investment/savings account without tax advantages or withdrawal penalties. If you might need some of it soon.

Self directed IRA -, Same as a 401k structure - use online vanguard, fidelity with ETF index funds with few charges. Higher the tax bracket (wife work?) the more likely it is useful. The tax savings today can make contribution today easier/higher. More money invested snowballs into to big bucks over time.

Roth IRA. No taxes in the future but also no current tax deductions. Good for someone in a low tax bracket that can't benefit a lot from tax deferral.

With small dollars low cost is the key. Do it online without paying someone. Pick a few index funds and just invest in the overall market. Edwards Jones is a joke, and for god sake don't go to an insurance guy. They sell insurance not investments that is why most of them are rich.
