| Hey guys...
We finally got enough "drier" and frozen conditions in the mornings where I can spread again.
I can spread my dry recipes / prescriptions , cheaper than mixing blends in the planter, ( and much faster ) , so I try and get the majority of the crop needs out this way, then fine tune with the planter.
In the past, I have always spread everything in the Fall.
So ...my question, do you think I would be better off and wait till spring to spread my MAP / DAP ( for next year corn ), or do it now ?
What acres have, I could cover in 2 days easy.
Another plus is the ground is bean stubble and will be no till, so for the most part it is solid, and most is ditched / drained fair to good.
Truck has the large floaters, so ruts / compaction does not bother me too much....
If I spread on frosty mornings in the Spring, say like mid March, would I still lose the N by planting time.
Clay based soils, with a just little sand / gravel on top.
I am thinking by waiting, that I could maybe gain or salvage the little bit of N in the dry that would be spread in the Spring...vs losing more of it if I spread now ???
Your thoughts, ideas , comments.
As always, THANKS in advance.
