Subject: Vertical till in the spring

N. IL
We have heavier silt clay soils in N. Illinois and have transitioned back to more soybeans. Most in our area run a disk ripper in the fall followed by a field cultivator in the spring. We used a 330VT this fall on the soybean stubble leaving it smooth.

I would love to use it again in the spring ahead of the planter to reduce weight and compaction that we would get with the field cultivator.

What are the issues with this in the spring?
