mascoutah, IL | Bought a new truck on Black Friday in Ohio. Have done this before next door in Missouri and they took care of collecting taxes and plating the vehicle at the dealership. Ohio does not do this with Illinois. My original plan was to pay the truck in full off my operating note and finance here locally but they ended up getting me a better rate through a local bank there. Here's my dilemma. I need to pay the taxes and transfer plates but do not have a title. Liscence service said I can't do either one without the title which belongs to the lien holder until payed off. Mentioned this all when I bought the truck and dealership said they would mail me a duplicate title or something of the sort. Fast forward two weeks and still haven't got it. Called dealership yesterday and they said it will take 30-35 days after purchase to get it. In Illinois I believe you only have 20 days to transfer and 30 days to pay taxes without penalty. Not sure what the penalty is. Any thoughts? | |
