southern thumb of MicMichigan | What you describe is a 4 way cross. It used to be very common along with 3 way ( inbred male x hybrid fvcemale)
1 the problem is many hybrids today share atleast 1 parent inbred. 2 many different seed companies sell the same hybrid with only a name change. 3 traits, if it is gmo then you are infring;yying on patents. If you get past these 3 steps well then the trials should be a go test cross multiples and in different parental roles. Some work real good 5% may even be better than either hybrid parent. I dont want to sound pessimistic but 20% roughly will be duds |
